I am very new to tomtom, only 5 days. Just wondered if I can have altitude showing on my tomtom one? Also I have the Europe version, how can I ensure that the maps are as detailed as possible? I have seen people talking about a France map. is this more detailed than the general Europe one? Can I get maps that would be suitable for hill walking?
Thanks a lot
Dave

Tomtom wont show altitude or hill walking maps I'm afraid.

You can always check www.tomtom.com for map upgrades and tomtom home should let know when new maps are available.

You probably have the GB Plus maps, the plus maps are street level of the country and include the Major Roads of Europe. (Which are more detailed than you would image).

You can also get the France or the France plus maps, either would be street level France and the plus, again, have the Major Roads of Europe.

If for example you plan to only ever visit France, then you could purchase the France plus maps. Before setting a journey from GB to France, you would select the France plus map and set your destination. You would then be guided over the major roads of Europe through GB and on entering France have street level to your destination.

For Italy you would use the Italy plus map. Major roads of Europe through to the Italian border where you would have street level to your destination.

If you plan to visit more than one country then it is cheaper to purchase the Major Roads of Europe.

Border_Collie, the user already had europe version

Dave, unless Tomtom have released newer maps for france, then you will already have the full france map loaded as part of the EU map set. In fact you'll have them all loaded, where as like BC says, a GB TomTom One you'd need to buy the map.

Even if there is a newer map, for many people it's not worth buying an upgraded map unless you travel for a living and getting lost will cost you money. Holiday travelers can get away with a 90%+ acurate map

No you're right, it is ambigious. I read it as they have the full EU map (as with the all-in-one's and TT6)

Maybe if the OP can clarify which TomTom they have.
