Default New User Questions

Hello everyone

My first post so please be gentle!

I have 2 ONE units (one for me and one for my wife).
I'm not sure what data you may need
about the units to help with my questions
- from the show version icon I get
App6.560, GPS v1.21, Boot 5.05, Map v605.0

Anyway 4 quick questions.

1.
Although the same age and used in roughly the same way
my wifes unit takes far longer than mine to power down
- it seems to hang on the final screen before turning off.
Mine powers down in around 5 seconds after pushing the button but my wifes is
around 30 seconds.
No great problem here but does
anyone know why this might be and is it something
to worry about ?

2.
Can you (and how do you) delete the pre installed
POI's such as camping site etc.

3.
Occasionally both my units refuse to power
up with no warning (I would guess this happens
about once every 3 weeks or so).
It's fixed by pressing the reset
but as both units do it I wondered if this is
a known problem and if there is a fix?

4.
The town where I live has been misspelt
in the software which is a bit annoying
- whats the best way of
bringing this to Tom Tom attention so they can fix
for the future?

Look forward to your help -

Steve

  1. That does sound a bit weird I'd check with tomtom on 084516100009
  2. change preference - manage poi - delete poi.
  3. They will freeze every now and again a soft reset doesnt do any harm. I normally soft reset my pda every week or so so stop any problems from happening.
  4. You can report map errors to teleatlas. http://mapfeedback.teleatlas.com/index.htm
It can take a while for map errors to get updated though the new tomtom 7 software and maps should let you edit it yourself.

Thanks for this.

When I try to delete POI I can only see the
ones that I have put in (Tesco stores for example)
not the ones that were pre loaded such as camping
site, ferry crossing.

It is these useless pre installed POI's I
was trying to be rid of - am I being a
bit stupid here ? Surely it can be done.

Thanks again.

They can't be deleted as they are embedded in TT. Many people complain about it.

A while back I needed to travel to a couple of hospitals and they were not shown in TT POI's, so I went here > http://www.poidownload.co.uk/poi/index.php downloaded hospitals and found what I needed.

Don't forget to download the conversion tool to convert to TT .0v2 file.

When you search for a POI you will find e.g. two hospital categories, just select the new one and ignore TT. I've also found petrol stations to be more accurate.
