Unhappy TomTom One acting very strangely

Hi there,

I've had my TomTom One for about 14 months with no problems (bought from www.totalpda.co.uk). This thing has really made my life sooo much easier. Until last week. I was just travelling to a customer site that I'd not been to before, and about half way there it just stopped. Well, actually TomTom had thought I'd stopped. It thought I wasn't moving anywhere. I thought the unit had locked up, but I could touch the screen and get the menus etc. So turned it off, turned it on, and it then found my new location and everything was OK, so I thought nothing more about it.

It then happened again. And again, and now just turning it off and on again does nothing. I tried resetting it, which helps sometimes, but then either 5 mins later it thinks I'm stationary again, or it just sits there 'waiting for a valid GPS signal' and thats it. Obviously driving round the country resetting the damn thing every few minutes isn't really the safest thing to be doing whilst trying to concentrate on driving!

I'm fairly IT savvy, so I updated my TomTom home software (now v2.1), and updated the software on the TomTom (App 7.131, GPS v1.21). That helped for a couple of days, but then the same problem came back. I've backed it up, formatted the card, and restored, which helped for a couple of days, but then the same problem. I've got a spare SD card, so restored on to that card which helped for a couple of days, but then same again.

I'm now completely stumped.

Any suggestions? Is it a fault on the TomTom, the SD card or the maps, or what?

Try tomtom on 08451610009 I think its out of warranty but they might be able to point you in the right direction. You dont pretty much much everything possible so it looks like a hardware issue.
