One question, what is the difference between a TT1, TT1 v.2 and TT1 v.3? Are those just updated map release's or what?

Esentially Yes.

TT1 was Navigator 5, v2 was 6, and v3 is v7

You can pay TomTom for the upgrade via tomtom home -a free application on the TomTom site.

TBH, why not simply buy a v3 with TT7? They are stupidly cheap at the mo! Saw a UK version for a smidge over £100 the other day thanks to a limited edition promo!
