Problems in Bedfordshire area I have made 2 trips down Bedfordshire way previously using TomTom One, firstly to a village called Elstow in Bedford and secondly to Luton. On both occasions it seems to be making roundabouts up where there aren't any and losing it's bearings completely after a certain roundabout.
Theres a roundabout on the A421 where the voice is advising the driver to "turn right - 2nd exit" yet the on screen picture and reality show a fairly different story.
After taking the wrong turn, the machine failed to re-calibrate correctly and simply kept blurting out "after 80 yards turn right" when there were several miles of dual carriageway and no turns in site. The display showed a confused TomTom showing the progress arrow in a field with a dotted line connected to the road, basically not moving.
Even when I managed to turn around and got back on the correct road the TomTom lost the plot completely and the display stopped progressing.
Eventually it re-calibrated but then for the Luton trip only it suggested turning left when there was no left turn, not only this but on both occasions coming back on the A421 (I think) it has said to go straight on 2nd exit for a roundabout that didn't exist.
I was surprised to see a roundabout approaching on the screen that was not appearing through my windscreen. There was however an exit to the left so it was correct in the sense that I needed to keep forward.
I would just be interested to know if anyone has had this problem around this part of the country, because everywhere else I've driven it has been spot on.
Incidentally I have now updated the software so it may have fixed the issue. |
