Unhappy One 3rd Edition not working - flashing white cross

Hi - can anyone help? I got my tomtom one 3rd edition at xmas. However, when I tried to switch it on today it will only show a screen with a picture of it and a red circle with a white cross flashing in the right hand corner. The touch screen does not work at all. When I go into home it won't update and I cannot control the tomtom via that. I have tried resetting and restoring via home but neither do anything - any clues?

Sounds like the OS has been deleted off the device.

In HOME, try restoring a backup - hope you made some!

If not, you'll need to contact TT suport.

I found this.

Question: Device shows a flashing cross when turned on.

Answer:

If your device only shows a cross after you turn it on, the TomTom application is not installed or cannot be found.

To solve this, follow the steps below.

Manually remove the TomTom application:
Reset your device.

Connect your device to your computer.

Turn on your device by pressing the power button for 5 seconds.

Do one of the following:
Windows: Click Start > My Computer and then double-click the Removable Disk for your TomTom device.
Macintosh: Double-click the desktop icon for your TomTom device.

Delete all files except the following:
Do not delete any of the folders!
Do not delete the files antitheftw.bmp, lowbatteryw.bmp and splashw.bmp (if present)!

Reinstall the TomTom application:
Start TomTom HOME

Select an option:
I previously updated my device on this computer
I never updated my device on this computer

Click Done and then click Device > Disconnect Device.
Your device should now start up again. If it hasn't started up after 10 seconds, press the On/off button.
