Battery Life Powered Off

My TT One 3rd Ed is about a year old, and I've noticed that if it isn't used for a month or recharged in that time the battery is completely flat. Is that to be expected?
Among other things it seems to make it lose some of it's settings - e.g. download preferences.
Thanks for any advice.

Yes, the device is merely sleeping when off, but most of the electronics are still running.
Shoudnt loose too many settings though, as this is in a file on the system which shouldnt get affected.

OK, thanks for the info. I'll try charging it at least once a week.
