Free month Plus

Hi everyone
I bought TomTom5 and would like to make use of the free months trial for the plus service to see how it copes and whether it worth buying, but when I try to log on as per the instuctions I have to enter my email address as registered on the tomtom site but my email contains an underscore eg _ and I can find no way to enter this on the pda.
I may be missing somthing here so can someone please help, I have emailed Tomtom but as usual there has been no reply.
