Default TT3 install problems on iPAQ 4150

4 questions:
1) After installation, & pairing the bluetooth receiver I cannot 'see' the GPS signal.
2) The GPS receiver manual says that the power lead should not be permanently connected to conserve battery life - is this also true for the car installation?
3) Should there be a permanent iPAQ power lead in the kit?
4) I tried to update Nav 3.01 to 3.03, but on running setup it seems to hang after the licence approval, showing a 'copying files' animation. I tried this several time but with no success. Just in case, I uninstalled the Nav3 on the iPAQ - now I cannot get either the original or the patch to install - both showing the same animation.

Hope you can help.

regarding Point 4, this happened to me. The system doesnt actually hang but takes an age (10-15 mins) even on my fast PC. No idea why, but it worked in the end when I returned with my cup of coffee!

Got some info from TomTom & if the GPS is uninstalled on the PDA first, the upgrade goes through fine. I have to say that the TomTom site is particularly unhelpful, particularly with the lack of a 'Knowledge Base' - the FAQ being very basic.

1) When you say "see", do you mean in the GPS Status page?
2) This is true whenever you connect a power cable to the Bluetooth GPS receiver. Only connect it up to charge it as the Li-Ion battery will deteriorate if continually charged according to TomTom.
3) In which kit? Car kit or Navigation kit?
4) Like Aceman said...just leave it...I have had some customers waiting about an age (seems even longer when you are on the phone to them) but eventually it'll complete.

1)What seems to happen is that only occasionally to I see the GPS icon in the tooltray, but I get the 'GPS Position unreliable' all the time. I did once get a gps location, but not since the 3.03 upgrade, & it disconnected, never to re-appear. I posted a question to TomTom but no reply.

3) I bought the Nav kit + the TT car mount. I have a cigar lighter cable which connects to the iPAQ via a sealed connector block. & a GPS charger cable which plugs into the connector block. (*I* didn't open the boxes, so don't know which came with which. I don't seem to have as comprehensive set as is pictured in the Bluetooth GPS manual)

Found the problem - the GPS needs to be set up on COM6. I don't think that this was documented in the install, nor is in the FAQ, which is a real oversight by TT
