Unhappy GPS Position UNRELIABLE

Please please please, can anyone help? I have just used mt TomTom Nav to go to a customer site, it worked brilliantly, however, when I came to use it to navigate home again the GPS position was unreliable and stayed that way until I eventually got home and turned the thing off. It was lucky that I knew roughly how to get out of the City I went to so it wasn't critical. This is not the first time it happened, several times I have got completely lost because the system wouldn't sync up. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Another issue is that I can never refind the threads I started on the forums, so if someone, anyone can help then would you please mail me at kblumfield@ashpolesolutions.com ? Thanks sincerely.

If your car has a heat reflecting windscreen it will attenuate the signals from the satellites dramatically. On my car (a Citroen C5) there are a couple of patches on the windscreen that are not coated. If I put the GPS receiver on one of these patches it will ususally get 5-7 satellites, but if I put it elsewhere on the screen it will only get 3-5 and will tend to drop out in built up areas where the signals are blocked by buildings.

I also stick the receiver to the windscreen with Blu Tac with the silver side facinf outwards because that also increases the sensitivity.

If you have got TT3 with bluetooth gps and not updated to the latest versions as per many other thread details you will get sporadic freezes or terminal ones requiring a soft reset. Just make sure if this is the case that you have all the most up to date patches and updates.
