Default update Go 710

We have a Tom tom go 710 which is now a couple of years old - need to update maps as many addresses in uk we visit are not on it - not enough room on current memory card which has western europe on it.
This afternoon I have ordered a 2 GB SD card. I have looked up on the Tom tom site how to transfer all current data and then to download the new version of uk map (assuming it is a newer version - not sure how I tell) To say I am confused is an understatement!
Can anybody give me an idiots guide to the above? I would really appreciate it
Andrea

You'll need a card reader. Ensure your PC shows all hidden/system files. Copy everything to a new folder on your PC. Then copy all this to your new card.

Sorry to appear a little thick but ......

I am assuming you are saying I should remove the present card from the Tom tom, put it into the card reader and copy the files into a new folder on my computer. Then copy them onto my new card. Which will then in turn have sufficient room to update.

One other question - we currently have western europe maps - I was going to buy the newest GB and ireland map - will that automatically update the GB part of what I have got or cause me problems - would I therefore be better off just buying the newest Western europe maps?

Thanks
Andrea

Yes, you have understood me correctly.

If you buy the newer GB maps then these will not interact with each other. You will need to switch maps.
