Default TomTom querie

Hi
I recently pruchased a Tomtom 740 Go Live in England but I am a resident in Republic of Ireland.
I have, to my dismay, found out that no services are available in Ireland. This fundamentally includes no safety camera alerts/info (it's like fixed safety camera info does not exist on the machine).
The purchase is an upgrade for my old Tomtom One XL (also purchased in UK and used in ROI) which has fixed safety camera alerts/info.

I've contacted tomtom and they say there is no, or never has been, any safety camera alerts for ROI on there products....clearly they are mistaken as I've used it for nearly 2yrs on my older XL one.

My questions are: Is it possible for me to get fixed safety camera alerts on my new product (download or patch or card) as I could live without the other live services?
Why would older products have fixed camera info and not a newer fancier model?
The tomtom website for ROI says the products for sale have fixed camera alerts and yet tomtom support guy says not, Who is right?

Any help for a miffed tomtom owner (x2) would be greatly appreciated.

You can get ROI safety cameras from Pocket GPS World - SatNavs | GPS | Speed Cameras they cost £19.95 for 12 months and are usually updated weekly (Wednesdays) and can be installed on up to 3 devices in the same household. More details from the site.

If you are the first to report a speed camera and it is verified, you could be given free lifetime membership.
