Talking TT Go & different SD cards

Just thought I'd share this with other users as it's had me puzzled for days!

I bought a GO along with a 256Mb SD card as I want UK maps and major euro roads on the same card for my trip to France at the end of the month. I transferred both maps to the card but for some reason the unit would not recognise the card and was telling me to remove it.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, if you use a different card in the unit then you have to use the 'Install program' option from the CD and this puts some extra files on the card so the unit will recognise it.

Hope this helps someone as I can't be the only one this has happened to!!

what happens is that not only the maps must be there but the operating system as well and the application (it happens tro be a single file called "system"). also the required voice file(s) are needed.

in order to get it working without using the install option: copy the complete old SD card in a directory and place the new maps there as well. write it back on the new SD card. depending on the used card, you may have to activate the new card.
