Unhappy Whats gone wrong???

Hi

Hope you can help....bought TT3, Bluetooth GPS and IPAQ5550 several months back. Installed, got it working even managed to download a couple of updates to TT3 and the GPS. Everything was working fine.

Now....Not used it for a few weeks and now no matter whatever I try, nothing seems to work. TT3 fires up ok but for some reason the GPS doesn't work......the bluetooth starts (on IPAQ and GPS), the green light comes on the GPS unit momentarily and then nothing except flashing bluetooth light........ I've tried soft reset loads of times, I've checked GPS status on the IPAQ and the N & E's are stuck at Zero's but there are lines and numbers in the bottom part of screen (6-8 different numbers and bars and a date and clock ticking away in July) but for some reason all the screen says is "Route will be planned when GPS position is reliable". This was like that for recent 100 mile round trip......

If you recommend hard reset or anything else complicated, please explain as you're dealing with a newbie.

Thanks

Garry

Welcome to our forums.
Have you changed the position of the receiver in the vehicle?
From what you have said about numbers and bars and the clock ticking means you have a connection between your iPAQ and the receiver, if the bars are grey then your receiver knows the satelites are there but cant get a strong enough signal for a lock. The bars turn red when there is a lock. Try the receiver outside you vehicle if you can to see if you get a lock.

Thanks Charlie,
Tried it in 2 vehicles, different routes, one for an hour outside house and the other for over 2 hours and 100 miles, but will have a go at trying it outside car (when it stops raining!) The bars didn't turn red. Reading thru some previous posts I seem to have latest versions TT 3.03 (427) GPS V3.03 415/408.......Running out of ideas.....Plus did I read that you can only uninstall and reinstall once? and take it you do it thru remove programs as thats the only thing i've got in storage memory........Sorry if these posts go on a bit and there a few questions rolled in......
Still trying
Garry

The most likely reason is that the receiver has lost its almanac data because the battery went flat. Make sure that it is fully charged, turn it on and leave it outside with a clear veiw of the sky. It will download the necessary information from the satellites but it might take half an hour or more, so be patient.

Thanks Semitone
I also emailed TomTom support team and they similarily told me to turn on GPS until completely flat then try re-charge. Hopefully that will work. Will let you know......

garryh you can only register the product to 2 different PDAs but you can install/uninstall on the same PDA as often as you like.
