Default Hardwiring Hp1940

Hi, All

I got HP1940 bluetooth total package

HP1940
Bluetooth reciever
TomTom Car Kit

Wanting to hardwirie the car kit so the hp1940 can have power without having to mess about with the cig lighter.

The device says 5v power but the holder says 12/24v so which is it should it be connected to the 12v or to a 5v dont want to blow it up

Rang tomtom but there no help just said no have any support for hardwiring rang www.totalpda.co.uk they said ring tomtom

You can hard wire 12v straight into the jack on the left side of the cradle (dont forget to fuse it). The cradle then converts that down to 5v which comes out of the connector the your iPAQ sits on.

So it converts it down to 5v from 12v

Would it be better to hardwire it to 5v fuse then the pda only getting the recommand vots just incase the step down that build into the holder fails

No I wouldn't recommend that at all. Just put a 12v feed into the connector on the left hand side of the cradle as you have been with the cigarette lead.
