Default New Postcode Search Tool

Hi,

I previously had the postcode overlay files from http://www.poisoft.co.uk now they have made a search tool similar to that of digitools before it was closed but a LOT better for TomTom Navigator on PDA

Go have a look its worth the price IMO

I have the Tungsten T3 with TomTom and have to say my biggest gripe is the lack of 6-digit postcode reading.

For 8 squidleys if it does whats it says on the tin and integrates seamlessly into TomTom then I'll buy one...

Sounds good although it may go the way of digitools if their data isn't licensed...they don't say if it is or not.

Hi Pen,

How did it go with the T3 and the postcode engine? It'sthe only gripe I've got with theTOM TOM. I only ask because the software seems geared to T3 and it doesn't specifically mention it in the list of campatibles at Posisoft.
Regards, C5 driver

Hey C5,

Well , it works and there is a specific program you download for the T3 that you download from POISoft.

As for a review.....

I managed to get get it installed fine and they appear on my POI. to find a postcode you choose navigate to POI and choose the postcode area (there are 10 to choose from including South East, South West, Northwest etec etc). So long as you know the rough area of the destination it's not a problem. You have to ensure that you've chosen the right area and then you put in the full postcode and voila it does seem to find it fine.

The only downside I have is that it seems to have slowed down the TomTom program itself (but only when initially loading. Not when it's on and running). I guess the pure amount of information has done that. It's not really a problem but it certainly takes a few seconds longer for TomTom to initially load and when putting in the postcode search I find that I need to wait several seconds before it allows me to put in the next digit. Apart from that I can see no adverse affects to TomTom itself.

However overall I would give it a thumbs up..... it does what TomTom *should* have one and provides a worakable solution for tracing 6-digit postcodes.

For £8.95 I am pleased with it and would recommend it.

Let me know if you have any other questions....
Cheers

PEN

PS: You must ensure that you've got space on your SD Card for the c. 35mb you'll be adding. I use a 512mb card anyway (to use other proggies as well). Idon' know how much space comes on the original supplied TomTom card

Tom Tom 5 will include full postcode search and there will be an upgrade program available.
