Default GPS position unreliable

Hi there

I don't know much about GPS/PDAs but have been using one--- tomtom3 [gps version 3.03] with HP 1940 PDA for over a year in UK. A month ago, while I was charging it, the GPS receiver went dead. I sent it to tomtom, who repaired and sent it back but it refused to work. All the time it said gps position unreliable. I contacted tomtom again who advised I download gps version 3.07, do a couple of resets and it would work. But it did not.

I sent the GPS back to them and got another/repaired one but again, it is not functioning.

I installed GPS version 3.03 and 3.07 both but neither is working. In my view, my PDA is working OK. I then read some forums where some suggested I remove the GPS first and reinstall it. But it did not work. Some suggested I disable incoming signals from Connection/beam. I did it but nothing doing.

So is there some one who can help? Tomtom takes ages to reply, sure I am not the only user. In fact I have been in this mess since Mid April.

So I thought I should request other users for any ideas?

raj

Default

i've had same problem from upgrading to 3.07

what SD card do you have? for some reason it seems to need a hi-speed, well known brand of SD card, and the cheaper slower cards cant keep up with the processing...

a good test for this is to install a small 16mb map to the memory on the ipaq and try that... i bet i runs like a dream!!

Thanks Seanj

I don't know much about SD cards but I have tried two on my PDA. I first used the SD card, which was working just fine before the GPS went dead. Then I bought a new one from Dixon and installed the software on it. None are working now though.

Can you suggest one. Also, can you please tell me where to save GPS software. In (a) main memory of the PDA (b) default directory--an automatic option or (3) SD card?

thanks for your help

raj
