Default TOMTOM 5 and CF GPS card, HELP PLEASE!

Im going MAD!!!!

ive got TOMTOM 5 and it wont work properly with my CF GPS card, I have a DELL AXIM X5

I CF card seems to work as it has a tester program that works fine, but after installing tomtom 5 it asks me to select a device. The devices I can choose are:

TomTom wireless GPS/ TomTom Cable GPS/ Other Bluetooth GPS/ Other Cable NMEA GPS

if I select the last one (other cable NMEA device) and set the GPS baud rate really low (2400, 4800), I get a really weak signal and the card does start flashing but then says its not a valid signal

yet the tester program that came with the card works fine?

please please some help me

What com port are you selecting? CF_Generic? You should uninstall any other GPS programs on the PDA.

humm
on the tester program it says comp port 5, but you cant select what port on the options, all I can select is CF_ .... something, it only comes up to select when CF card is in there

I did have it working for a bit today, when outside but it kept losing its signal, also when I got out of work and had it on again it stopped working again

Altho it was running out of batt, would that make a difference?

ill uninstall other stuff, see if it makes a diff

I think probably tomtom 5 no longer supports cf based stuff. u can try go to dell site and download 4 updates. then click satrt, settings connections, bluetooth u see a third psge now comports click new and try ur luck. I successfully managed to work with holux 236. I was told by tomtom, holux, and even dell said it will not work. it works fine saving new pda.

  • do this:
  1. Select other Cable NMEA GPS
  2. set the GPS baud rate to 9600 (most common for CF cards)
  3. choose the top cf card generic option
  4. get initial TTFF outside under clear view of sky
when you're sucessful and it finds satellites and then eventually gets a lock you shouldn't have to go through that process again unless you do a soft hard reset of the PDA.
