Default Tom Tom Questions...

Hi

I am interested in buying a GP
S/PDA unit, but having not owned either of these before I have a number of questions before I take the plunge:
Currently looking at the HP Ipaq 4700 with Tom Tom Navigator 5...
  • Is the HP 4700 able to run TT? (I assume so - but on the TT website I couldn’t see it listed as compatible so wanted to be sure)
  • I know you can buy the TT software bundled with the GPS Bluetooth unit - but can you also purchase an additional standalone TT GPS Bluetooth unit? (this is so I could have 2 GPS receivers (but without having to pay for the software 2 times) I'm not planning on using TT software twice (on separate PDA's - as I guess this is illegal?) - I just to make it easier to transfer the PDA between 2 cars - less messing around)
  • When you get the TT package - the software comes on a Compact Flash card (I think?) - what size capacity is this card?
  • Can the TT software be transferred to a bigger card (say 1 GB)?
  • If yes to the above - can this card be used for other things - such as MP3's, data storage etc (not necessarily running at the same time as TT of course)
  • If for some reason I screwed up on copying the files across and wiped the TT software - is there a CD with TT to reinstall the software back to the Compact Flash card (the webpages I read seem to indicate there is a CD but only with the manual on it)
  • If yes to the above - is there a limit to how many times this can be done? (i.e. - after the 5th reinstallation you have to repurchase the software)
Car Mounting and power Q's:
  • What type of mounts are available? I am guessing there are 2 main options - window/sucker option and also a dash mounted option - any comments or recommendations on these? I think I would prefer a dash mounted option so it isn't obscuring forward view - I would also like it less obvious and visible in the car
  • Can the PDA and the GPS be powered from the lighter socket at the same time (as I wouldn’t want to have to keep swapping the power cable from PDA to GPS and back to keep them from running out of power!)
  • How long will each unit (PDA/GPS) run on battery - around 6-8 hours it says on total PDA - is this realistic and under what usage type (continuous or intermittent)?
Finally - any thoughts on my PDA choice - good/bad? (any online reviews?)

And what type of warranty is included? - i.e. I am wondering if it packs in after 9 months can it be replaced? And what about after 2 years etc?

Anything else I have missed which I need to buy or consider?

Thanks for reading this far and for any help offered
Neill
