What gps receiver are you using bluetooth or wired?
If wired try
You need to disable BEAM for it to work.
Tap on START --> SETTINGS --> CONNECTIONS --> BEAM then tap the box to remove the tick then try TomTom again.
If bluetooth go to tomtom website and try the page on TomTom, go to product support and look at the question, How to manually configure TomTom NAVIGATOR 5 for Bluetooth GPS receivers
Worked for a pal of mine

This seems to be a common problem - no instructions how to set up GPS on the MIO device. I got the answer from this forum I think.....you need too do ths following....

start PDA -> start TT5 -> Change prefs -> cycle through pages till you get to "Show GPS status" -> configure -> select "Other Cable NMEA GPS" then "BAud rate 4800" then "Serial Cable on SP2".

This should work (it does in mine).

Default Seems to work

Looks like this has worked for me as well. Just upgraded my Father in Law's MIO 168 from TTN3 TTN5 and lost the GPS - now seem to have it back - Thanks !!
