Default Tomtom 5 on Navman Pin 570

Have installed Tomtom 5 on a Navman Pin 570 and while the program works flawlessly the favorites and home location I have entered vanish when the program is exited. Anyone got any ideas why this would be?

The file navigator.cfg is not read only and is created when the software is first run. I have checked the memory card and this is fine also. Am I looking at the correct .cfg file? I can`t seem to find another one so I`m guessing it is.

On the subject of GPS configuration, I chose OTHER NMEA GPS from within the TOMTOM software which then brings up a Baud Rate Menu (I chose 4800) followed by a list of ports from which I chose GPS ON NAVMAN. Prior to running TOMTOM you need to ensure that the GPS device is turned on from within the settings menu of the PDA. Hope this helps. I`m going from memory so some of the descriptions might not be 100%.

Ok so have solved the problem. The file that needs to have the write protect removed is located in the map directory. All works fine now. Thanks for the clue.

Thanks very much Tony for your answer. When I chose other NMEA, and brings up a Baud Rate Menu, the list of ports do not came up, is already setted to port 8 I think.

Did you unistalled the gps software Smart st to do the installation of tomtom, because I dont know what you mean about the gps device turned on from within the settings menu of PDA,

I thank you so much if you can give me a clue.

Joaquin

Talking The answer you've been awiting for !!!

I finally figured how to get TomTom 5 on Navman PiN 570, so here goes
Firstly turn on your GPS by going into "Start:Settings:GPS on SystemTab:ON"
The amber light should be flashing in the top left of your PIN 570
Next start tomtom
On "Main menu 1 of 3" tap "Change preferences"
On "Preferences 4 of 6" tap "Show GPS Status"
Tap "Configure"
Choose "Other Cable NME GPS"
Set "GPS baud rate to either 9600(worked for me) or 4800"
Now the tricky bit, this is where i got lost before
You are now faced with
GPS is connected to
SC2410 USB Cable:
COM3:
S2410 IRDA2410
S2410 UART0
GPS ON NAVIGATOR

Choose "GPS ON NAVIGATOR"
Done
Make sure your NAVMAN aeriel can see the sky and you'll be picking up satellites in no time.

Hope this helps took me a while to figure out but it definately works!!

Default GPS automaticaly starting when Tom Tom starts on Pin570

I have been running Tom Tom 5 on my Pin570 for some time but what's anoying is having to manually start the GPS application before opening Tom Tom. Does anyone know any software or macro to automatically open both at the same time..
Tom Tom seems to be much more stable than than the original Smart ST which used to crash quite often also the system clock would stop.!! Anyone else notice this? Whilst driving the thing would loose half an hour..
By the way set the GPS to 9600 as quoted by Bruno..
