Question Can the tom tom 2 bluetooth be used with laptop as well as pda?

I was thinking of buying the tom tom 2 navigator kit, but wondered whether or not the gps unit and software can also be used with a laptop.

Could the GPS unit also be used with separate mapping/charting software suitable for oceanic/coastal marine navigation?

Jimbo please note that the tom tom programme is based on handheld devices and would not work on your PC. However you could go for the Bluetooth option (as long as your Laptop has Bluetooth or could get a PCMCIA BT card) and run PC based navigation software. You can use your receiver with different mapping software as long as you have the correct drivers.

Dear Steve,
Could you please point me out where to find different mapping software, and as well drivers to go with it?
I'm in Iceland, and would like to be able to use my Navigator hardware with my Ipaq 2210 out on the country side and in the mountains!
As you know, the TomTom software is only usable for cities, therefore exluding every possibility of usage here in Iceland.

Your kind help is highly appreciated.

Best regards,
Sigurdur
