Blank Screen Tom Tom 500

Hi

hope someone can help.
Used the Tom Tom for a drive out no problems. When I turned it on for the drive home .... nothing. just a blank screen. Put it in the cradle to charge - green light came on but blank screen remained, tried switching it on nothing.
got it in the mains now, green light on but blank screen. I have tried connecting it to the PC but it's not recognising (further confirmation that it's not on).

I may have accidently left it on when we arrived at our destination would a fully drained battery do this?
What would anyone advice be about pressing the reset button?
