Default TT5 & additional maps

This is my first post so please go easy on me.
I have been running nav5 now for about 10 months without to many problems on an IPAQ 5550 with the GB map v562.

I recently loaded the update version 5.210 for tomtom, all ok so far, I have now downloaded additional maps and loaded then in the root directory of the memory card however looking in the switch map option under preferences the only map shown is the GB map.

Can anyone please help me understand why I cannot see the additionals maps loaded on the memory card?

Do you mean installed?

Where did you download them from?

Did you save the file to your hard drive?

Did you accidently install onto your hard drive instead of your SD card?

Can you see the maps files using a card reader?

I downloaded them from a bit torrent site, and saved them onto my SD card and I can see them on my card reader

I've read various forums and many people are having the same, evidently unresolvable, problems as yourself when downloads have come from a 'bit torrent' site or dubious sellers on e-bay. The only sure way is to purchase 'genuine' software and maps.

True enough in most cases. My TTN5 maps I got from eBay have installed but they require authentication - so they are useless.

Your original problem for this post, did you simply copy the folder across? I think it has to be installed.
