Unhappy tomtom failure to open on spv m2000

I have TomTom Navigator 5 loaded on my SPV M2000. If I do a soft reset(because the phone stops working or one of several hundred other problems) it disables Tom Tom and I am unable to use it. If I select it,It looks like its going to open and the TomTom icon appears at the bottom of the screen but it just fails. The only way to get it going again is to do a complete hard reset which means having to re-enter all my server/sync details etc and reload TomTom from scratch.
To say its annoying is somewhat of an understatement. Be much obliged for any ideas

yes. i downloaded it again yesterday and installed it but it it did not get as far as the Navigator prompt after install. As i said before, when i do a hard reset i do a new install of tomtom from the purchased sd card.i then open it as a new app and it works fine but when i try to open it again from the start menu it fails. it looks like a line of code or something is missing from the start up schedule.
