Welcome to our forums.

I suspect it should be COM1. How are you connecting the wired receir to the DELL?

Wow thanks for replying so quickly!

The troublw is the Axim has different ports to set. One is for the hardware and the other for the software I think.. I am connecting it via a car kit like this one http://www.morpethmobiles.co.uk/products.asp?cat=121 (Wired GPS Receiver / Mouse GPS Receiver Male PS2).

I also use their dual pda/gps charger.

Thanks very much for your help.

You can only select one COM type from within the TomTom settings. It should be COM1 but you will have to select OTHER CABLE NMEA as the receiver type and set the baud to 4800. Also make sure your TT5 has the latest v5.21 update installed.

Gibbonfunky, I'm confused. TomTom say that TT5 is incompatible with the Dell Axim V51x. How did you get it to work then? What exactly did you do to the registry? How do you edit the registry on the pocket PC? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

The edit is to correct errors with the listing of com 1 having loads of ??? in the description due to the Axim not recognising the port correctly within TT.

Search this forum for ???? and Axim and you'll find the fix. You MUST also install the 5.21 update, as with any WM5 device.

Thanks, getsurfers. I managed to find an online registry editor and it worked. Thanks again.
