Question What to Buy??

What system should I buy?
I want a GPS nav system, car travel is my main mode of transport but it would be better is the system was portable for use outside of the car. I'm thinking Bluetooth here.
Although Im not limited in the budget department...I dont want to throw money at it either.
I don't presently own a PDA so need to buy one also.......so what do you suggest?
I'm proposing HP 5550 with TomTom3 bluetooth.
Do you think this is a good pairing without being OTT
It would be helpfull if I could get TomTom cards of west coast USA (main roads)
or do you think the Navman system or another is better?

All friendly advice would be appreciated

George

George quick question what will you be doing with the GPS outside of the car, alot of people think they are going to use it outside but never do. It really all depends does it have to be a PDA do you need the PDA extras?

Yes your right, it will be used mostly in the vehicle. but I would like the opportunity to use it for city touring on foot (Paris last week & Stockholm next)
I prefer the bluetooth option on the PDA as my Laptop, mobile & video camera are all bluetooth enabled.
I understandm a wire connection to the GPS receiver is a lot cheaper and more reliable connection wise but this ties the GPS unit to the vehicle.
Also the Bluetooth GPS receiver will need a charge connection in the vehicle.

Hope this helps you to give me further advice.

Regards

George

What i would recommend then is that you have a look at the Navman 4410, it includes a arm strap so if you are mobile you can use it. The battery life on the GPS receiver lasts much longer than the Tom Tom. Both the Tom Tom and Navman come only with road maps, you can however get off road maps etc.
