Default 'No valid GPS signal' on Ipaq RX1950. Help!

I've been using GPS in the car with my IPAQ 1950 for a couple of months

and it worked very well. But it suddenly stopped getting any kind of signal and is now unusable. It says No valid GPS signal. On the GPS Status page it shows plenty of 'hollow bars'. I've tried in areas with a good signal and also tried resetting the IPAQ. Is it the IPAQ or the GPS jacket at fault? I believe it may be something to do with the virtual COM ports. How do I solve this? Can anybody here help with this issue. I would be very grateful for any advice. Many thanks.
