Angry Go510 Connecting to PC problems

Hi there! Newbie here!

My hubby has had the 510 model for just over 6 months. Up until now he has not had a problem connecting the device to the PC to update. Now, all of a sudden and for no damn good reason, the PC doesn't 'recognise' the device. I have spoken to the TomTom helpline people today and was sent an email firstly suggesting resetting the device. We did that, it didn't work. Their email suggested that if that didn't work, go into 'My Computer, Properties etc' and enable there. That didn't work either. Lastly, if all else failed, we then had to 'RemoveRegEntries' via the attachment. That didn't work either.

Has anyone got any other suggestions besides throwing the damn thing out of the window under a passing truck?!?!?

I'm thinking that the docking station may be faulty. Or am I clutching at straws here?

Ensure the port on the GO isn't dirty, or dusty. Any debris will prevent a firm connection, and the problem you've encountered.

Thanks getsurfers. I did that but still didn't help.

Mind you, I have sorted it now and others might want to make a note of this. I wasn't going to let a small piece of technology get the better of me!

All I did was to get Windows Device Manager to search for updated driver automatically. Hey Presto! - it worked! How simple was that. Don't know why I hadn't thought of that initially to be honest.

I do have one other question though for anyone out there. I'm thinking of subscribing to the Traffic Alert and Camera Update. Is it worth the doing? Does it do what it says on the tin?
