mine was bought from Dixon's online, there is no free update, one month traffic free, version 6.15.
my family got it for me as a present,
why should it make any difference where it was purchased, if I by a ipod for instance the first time I connect to a pc it updates everything as standard.

What was bought was a new tom tom one at the RRP of £200 that should include the most up to date maps.

When I contacted TT I was advised to check if the map was up to date , I was informed it was 2 years out of date, but in fact even my postcode is not reconised and my house had been here 14 years.

Thats not right, in any sence of the word.

The classic. Since that model came out there has only been one map update available to buy and thats the current one. Which was released late November or ealry December.

Digital maps take ages to get updated though.

Discussion Thread Response (Terence R. (UK))15/01/2007 05.07 PMDear Mr Oliver

We would like to thank you for your message to TomTom Customer Support.

Please contact us by using the telephone number given below:

0845 161 0009

You can reach us on this number Monday - Friday between 08.00 and 18.30 UK time.

Kind regards,

TomTom Customer Support Team Customer (Robin Oliver)14/01/2007 04.28 PMThis does not detract from the fact that tom tom sold me a system knowingly out of date,

Your waffle in your response is meaningless, THE MAP YOU SOLD ME IS 2 YEARS OUT OF DATE.

therefore the system is not fit for the purpose it was purchase, There are numerous faults with the map purchased,as i have already stated, also the Sales of Goods Act 1974. has no limit on the sale of goods not fit for it purpose, not 28 days as you state.

You have admitted the facts.

what do you intend to do to rectify this.

I await your response. Response (Terence R. (UK))14/01/2007 03.20 PMDear Mr Oliver

We would like to thank you for your message to TomTom Customer Support.

The navigation market is a fast growing segment with continuously new products. TomTom is an innovative company that is constantly improving its products. TomTom offers an upgrade of its products to the market each year in the same period. It also informs its customers about this via the TomTom website and the TomTom newsletters. TomTom would like to keep its customers well informed in this way.

The TomTom product that you have purchased is an excellent product and, therefore, we cannot offer an upgrade free of charge. New versions are other products with other options than the ones offered through the previous versions. These new versions also contain new digital map information that TomTom itself purchases from third parties. The price of an SD map will also in part determine the price of the TomTom upgrade for a number of products that is offered on the SD map. TomTom has, to put it briefly, to pass on the costs for new products that also include TomTom upgrades.

You are entitled as the consumer to return the purchased product within 28 days to the point of sale. You can ask to be refunded the purchasing price that you have paid or you can exchange the product for another one at the point of sale.

We hope you will show understanding for our position.

Kind regards,

TomTom Customer Support Team Customer (Robin Oliver)14/01/2007 02.53 PMI Cannot beleive quite what i am reading, You are telling me that I was sold in September 2006 a system that was already 18 months out of date, This must come under the sales of goods act , where a product should be fit for it purpose.

I have already told you that the maps dont even have my house on them that has been here 14 years, the postcode does not exist, local motorways that have been here for 30 years are showing you to exits and entree points that dont exist.

Yes the maps works in my system but they are no where near up to date.

the only response you can give to this is pay a further 49 euros for another set of maps that are probily the same???????

This is not acceptable at all, the maps should be free if they are only updates, you are profiting from selling out of date systems. while fully knowing they are out of date. which is wrong.

I think the DTI would be most interested in your emails. Response (Terence R. (UK))14/01/2007 02.07 PMDear Mr Oliver,

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.

With regards to your query, when the TomTom One was manufactured 2 years ago, the maps that were installed then were the most recent maps.
However since purchasing a TomTom One in September 2006, new maps were already in the process of being released. These new maps are already available on the website.
The maps however on your device wil lwork, but seeing that new roads are always being built, some of the new roads may not be on that current map.

Should matters remain unclear, please contact our Support Department on weekdays during 8.am and 18.30 UK time at the number given below.

084 516 100 09.

With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team Customer (Robin Oliver)13/01/2007 03.41 PMMy first message was 5 days ago, do you intend to reply at all.

Customer (Robin Oliver)09/01/2007 02.46 PMI purchsed my tom tom in september , I have used the system a few times since then , on the website , it tells me my maps are out of date ,??????? why do I have to pay more for maps that will be out of date in less than 6 months, at 50 euro's.
