You would be better off getting your safety camera database form http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums . It costs £19 per year and updated every couple of weeks or so. There is also an option to pay £2 per month if you'd prefer that way.

Basically, you download the speed zoned cameras as a zip folder, unzip the folder and copy and paste the .bmp and .ov2 files to inside your map folder. (Only need to transfer the .bmp's on the first occasion). You then set up your warning distances. A general view is to set up a 20 second warning for fixed cameras, so for 20mph set as 200 yards, 30mph 300 yards etc. For mobiles you really need a minimum of 440 yards, although some people use 880 yards for all mobiles.

In addition to above you can also download .ogg files, which also go inside your map folder. With these you get a choice of a siren, loud, soft or none, followed by e.g. Warnig Gatso ahead, speed limit 30 miles per hour.

Try the month for a start and see if you get hooked.

Hi Mark,

I have just had exactly the same thing happen to me. I activated my promotional code yesterday (it expirers today 30th April) and managed to download the safety camera details, however as soon as i tried to upload them onto my TomTom One, i get the same message -'This item is not suitable with your TomTom device'. If this is the case, why on earth was the promotion given away with this item? This is not something that the store added on, as all the TomTom Ones's that were sold of late in all stores, had the same promotional sticker attached. I have sent an email to TomTom for help, but nothing has come back yet. Does anybody have a customer services telephone number? I couldnt find one anywhere!!

TomTom Safety Camera Database does not include mobile sites. The link I gave does and is updated every couple of weeks, unlike TT.

The added bonus is, if you subscribe and are the first to report a new static camera, and it's verified, you will be offered 'free' lifetime membership and not have to pay future subscriptions, in effect the camera database becomes free.

You can also get free cams from http://poiplace.oabsoftware.nl

That's what I use, and find it's normally updated daily.
