Default Should the TomTom One Europe be supplied with a memory card?

Hi,

My freind has just purchased a TomTom One Europe and it hasnt come supplied with a memory card. Is this correct? It appears to have the maps preloaded onto the unit directly, however when we compair routes with my TomTom One regional UK version(both with the latest maps and same running version - and both set to Fastest Route) we get different route plans and distances / arrival times. I would have thought that they would have come up with the same answer?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Andy

The latest tomtom one Europes no longer use an SD card everything is loaded on internal memory.

Both of your tomtom use maps from different suppliers. Your friends is Navteq and yours is teleatlas. This is whats causing the difference in routes as the underlying data is slightly different for both maps.

Question Tomtom ONE XL Europe SD card

I'd welcome your thoughts as well on this! I've just acquired a new ONE XL Europe.

1) It comes with no memory card, but does have an SD slot for one.

2) The hard disk seems very tight for space, so that downloading some updates (e.g. application update - 8Mb - via TomTom Home) results in an "insufficient disk space" message.

3) Slotting in a 1Gb sd card closes the application and displays a red cross telling you to remove it.

I'm looking to fork out for the speed camera database, but anxious about doing so because of the above.

Any advice for me?

Thanks for the response. I've been on to support and the situation is as follows:

(1) The unit has everything on internal memory (total about 950Mb) & no SD card is provided. The SD Flash-card slot is available to provide an ALTERNATIVE but not an additional source of memory - so you have to have everything (including the application) loaded on to either one or the other.

(2) Problem is, the internal memory arrives 97% or more fully loaded. So if you need more data (e.g. US Maps - and, who knows, in due course various updates??) there's virtually no slack. The only course of action would be to get a 2GB (minimum) SDcard at additional cost, transfer all the software & data using Windows, & run everything from that - leaving the internal memory empty & redundant.

Personally, I think don't think that's great product design, do you?

Most tomtom cards are generally full up. You can use tomtom home to delete files you dont need like the extra voices and languages.

Make sure you do a full back up first just in case.
