TomTom support. This sounds familiar.
In my case, I bought an Ipaq with the intention of using TT Navigator 5 (bluetooth version). It worked fine apart from a few bluetooth niggles. Unfortunately the PDA packed up two months out of warranty, and was not economic to fix.
Now admittedly the TomTom software did not go wrong, the problem was with the PDA.
I bought a new PDA, thinking that I could just install TT Navigator on it. WRONG! The software is locked to the original device.... you need a new activation code to install it on a new PDA. Trying to get one from TomTom is like trying to get blood from a stone; basically they must presume everyone with this request is a thief trying to rip off their software. In numerous emails back-and-forth they did everything except call me a thief outright. (Is there a smiley equivalent of sticking two fingers up?) I'm surprised they didn't ask for a DNA sample to pass on to Interpol. Considering I paid in the £hundreds for TT Nav, this is a bit annoying, to say the least.
SO BEWARE. This scenario applies even if your PDA packs up a week after you buy it, and is replaced under warranty.
Oh, and another thing. TomTom 6 maps don't work with TomTom 5. They don't update TT5 maps, and won't in the future. So they are all out of date, and have been for some time. TT6 requires Windows Mobile 6. My PDA won't run WM6, and a lot of PDA's are the same.
A question for you, then... what happens when TT Nav 7 is released, to run on Windows Mobile 7 ? I hope you don't have version 6.
