Download tomtom home from the tomtom website.
http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/app...Ewinlatest.exe

Make sure you do a back up first. You can then use tomtom home to delete the unsused files and run the update.

Hi / already had a backup from last year.
I have formatted the SD card and lost uk maps / is there any way i can retrieve these ?

I tried to restore the old back up and i got the reply...not the right version / not compattible etc......
I know there was a problem reading a voices (zip file) which i deleted long ago.
Sorry for sounding thick

Yes it was done through tomtom home, i updated my sd card and backed up there/then (sept 2006)

I have since added voices / but they where not recognised by myself.
I tried a new backup today before the format, but got to 82% and froze (prob with 1 voice zip file)

so i thought i would obviously be fine with the sept 06 back up........NOT.

I am trying to locate a programme that will recover data lost through format error etc.....

Regards ian

Get this freebie http://www.recuva.com/ , there's a good chance you will recover your lost files.

I have now sourced / found & downloaded all data needed, reformatted and updated to the latest updates / maps.
I would personally like to say thanks to the people who helped me in this thread especially Border Collie for the download that did the trick.

I might change my name now to ESS / english springer spaniel
kind regards
Ian
