Default SD Card

I have just tried to add a standard empty SD card to my TomTom to provide some additional storage but the TomTom responds by showing a crossed out card icon on the screen. How do I make the TomTom recognise the SD card?

Roger
I have exactly the same problem with a TomTom One new version. The device has an SD slot but didn't come with a card, the maps etc are on internal memory, but there is insufficient space to add updates or POI's. I inserted the card but the screen flashes a remove card sign and will not accept it. Since you posted this in Sept there doesn't seem to be anyone with an answer, have you solved it yet? I have e-mailed TomTom direct for a response, if I get one I'll post it.

Hi Guys,

Just got the TomTom One XL in New Zealand and had the same sign when I inserted the SD card, if you make a backup copy via Home and then copy the backup to the SD card it will work, you can only use one at a time ie Flash memory or SD card so the software has to be on the SD card for the system to boot.

cheers

Ken
