Default Tom Tom V6 Froze on Ipaq 2790

Hi All
I have TTN 6 on an Ipaq 2790 and was using it last week for the first time on a long journey and it worked flawlessly for about 41/2 hours then it froze on the display, the voice instructions seemed to be working fine but the map just seemed to update infrequently.
When I got back I tried to reload TTN6 and now it wont start unless I start it via checkpoint.
It all seems slow on the redraw as when I 'click' a button such as the arrow to move on to the next screen it takes about 20 secs to display the next page.
When TTN is stopped then the pda works normally and I havent added anything since installing TTN.
Anyone got any ideas or come across this?
Many thanks
Rob

Are you closing Checkpoint and TT every time you power off the device? You must do this EVERYTIME! This is common issue of problems when using the 2 together. Simply do a SOFT reset and all should be well.

Also ensure you have the latest V6 of Checkpoint loaded.

unfortunately tried all that and I have discovered that the only way to get tom tom to work properly again is to do a hard reset to factory conditions and reload the whole pda again (a right pain).
it appears that once it has done this something gets 'hard coded' into tom tom and stops the screen refreshing properly.
any more ideas?
many thanks for your help
Rob

The only possible issue is that you've run out of usable memory by trying to run too much on the device at once.

Tomtom is a system hog, and needs a lot of free mem - tonnes the more POI sets you have enabled.

Ensure you close as much as possible, and only run the esential POI you actually use all the time. Enable the others to show on the map as and when you need them.
You'll still be able to navigate to them unless you physically remove them
