sat nav connection issues on 6510

Hi all....after some advice as I have a real annoying problem and I have tried everything.....I have a HP6510 which I have had a for a while with tom tom sat nav on it....just recently it is failing to connect to satellites even though the quick start program is valid.....on the very rare occaissions it does connect you can shut the sat nav down and it will reconnect straight away but once it decides its had enough it can take days to get connected again...have tried soft and hard resets with no real improvement
Can anyone help with this???
