Default TT6 GPS signal loss for 2 hours EVERY DAY!

Hi - I have instaled TT6 GB maps onto Ipaq 6510 and most of the day it works great.
Strangely though I lose the signal at around 3pm every day and cannt reconnect until about 6-6.30pm. This happens wherever I am in the country.
It seems as though the PDA is "doing something" as the colour wheel keeps spinning every few seconds. As far as I know there are no other programmes running in the background that could be affecting it.

I would appreciate any help in this as I don't know where to start.

Thanks

Where are you based?

There are some rom updates available on the HP website click here.

They might help you but if you update the rom you will need to reload all your software so make sure you back up everything you need and follow the instructions on the site.

Hi - I have a problem in that my IPaq 6510 acts oddly with TomTom 6 every day around 2pm and lasts until about 5pm. Whenever TomTom is loaded at these times I cannot get the gps signal and I just get the spinning colour wheel. All other functionality is fine during this time.

It was suggested (above) that I try a Rom update. My question is this: If I update the Rom will I have to instal everything again . IE the OS, Outlook, etc? Or would the ipaq backup program on the device cover all that?

I ask this because I do not have any cd that came with the PDA as it was an ebay buy.

Thanks in advance

Stop the active sync service by using the fake server trick

ActiveSync can start on its own and run in the background, to prevent this do the following.

Start your P350/P550.

Go to Start – Programs – Activesync.

Tap on Menu then Add Server Source’

Enter 1, 1, 1, 1 as the server.

User a

Password b

Domain c

Next uncheck the boxes

End.

Now go back to Menu – Schedule and use the two sliders to select each as Manual

OK

Now go to Activesync - Options, where you can delete the Server you’ve just added. It will now keep the Manual settings.

You will still be able to use Activesync in the normal way but you’ll find it no longer auto-starts when it’s left alone, thereby saving some battery power.

Mio recommend a ‘top-up’ at least once per week.

Thanks for the reply. What is a P350/P550? I assume you mean my Pda?

Active Sync is not listed in my Programs list. I can get to it from the start menu on my PDA but their is no "menu" just a "tools" option at the bottom. which brings up "PC Synchronization" which has three menus 1. Menu 2.Server 3. Mobile Schedule.

Under "Server" it has a box labelled "sync with this server" which is currently blank.

I should note that I am running Vista on my PC.

Thanks

Synchronize during
Peak times:
Off-peak tim:es
Roaming:

These are set to "Maunually"

There is also an unchecked tick box labelled "sync outgoing items as they are sent.
Another button labelled "peak times" takes you to a new tab where you set the start/ end time of peak times. Currently set Mon-F 8am-6pm

Hope that makes sense
