Default Linking with Three via Motorola A1000

I use the Three network and have the Motorola A1000 with built in GPS receiver. I've downloaded the Wayfinder software and it can get co-ordinates but fails to connect for map downloads.

Is this something to do with Three "ring fencing" their web access?

Is your phone 'on contract' or 'pay as you go' ?

I believe that you must have a FULL GPRS connection for wayfinder to work properly.

I've no particular experience with Three, but most other networks only give full access to their Pay Monthly customers, Pay as You Go phones only have a WAP gateway via GPRS not full access.

You could check with Three about your GPRS access

Hi Mike,
It is on contract. I've now had their response:

"
Thank you for your email regarding the issues you are experiencing.

The use of open internet access on the 3 network is restricted and you will be unable to access the site needed if out with 3's Browser service.

This was a decision take at the time of purchase however, we are currently reviewing this and may introduce access to limited internet sites in the enar future. I would recommend that you visit our website www.three.co.uk as any change to our service will be listed there.

Thank you for contacting 3 and I trust that the above clarifies matters for you. Please get in touch if you require any further help.

Regards
