Default ActiveSync drops Desktop PC's Internet connection

My desktop PC has an ADSL internet connection via an NTL set-top box.

Sometimes I use my Pocket PC to connect via Bluetooth to ActiveSync and access the ADSL connection on my Pocket PC.

Without any specific changes to settings, in the last couple of days the following now happens...

When I disconnect from ActiveSync on my Pocket PC, the desktop PC's internet connection drops. The only way to reinstate it is to disable and then enable the LAN card connection.

This never happened before.

Over the last week we have had a lot of problems with our ADSL connection and have tried many "speed fixes" to sort out why our connection was reportedly running slower than it should. Be we've searched high and low through different settings and can't see anything which would suggest why the ADSL connection drops on disconnecting from ActiveSync on my Pocket PC.

Anyone any suggestions? Very much appreciated.

Do you have any firewall products?

Yes. Norton Internet Security 2004 Pro. But problems only started this weekend. Had Norton ISP 2004 installed for two weeks now.

But what's your line of thinking?

Some people have reported issues with software firewall products blocking communications etc. It was a long shot but try disabling it for a bit and see if the problem persists.

I'm reluctant to disable it. The Windows XP firewall is no substitute and Norton has never caused problems in the past so I don't see why it should get fussy now.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
