Default 4150 WLAN settings again!

Hi all! I've just bought a iPAQ 4150 and am trying to access my WLAN which is a Netgear 102 Access point. I can see my SSID (menai) but is 'unavailable'.
I've managed at times to make it 'connect' but it only stays 'connected' for 10 seconds, then reverts back to unavailable!! My Netgear has been set up to look for MAC addresses, where can I find the MAC address for my iPAQ?
To this end I've disabled the MAC address security to ease the set up, but with out sucess!! I've read the previous post about how to..with a 4150 and Netgear ADSL wifi router. Mine should be simpler, but isn't! I'm sure I'm missing something really simple but for the life of me can't see it!! I've set up my system as 192.168.0.123 for the ipac, my Netgear ia 192.168.0.102 and the ADSL router is 192.168.0.101. I hope all this info will help solve this.

I have other computers on the WiFi network and they all work!!

Cheers
Ian

Welcome to our forums.
Have you happened upon the other 4150/Wifi thread found @ http://www.totalpda.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=104 (Which GPS has most current maps?) ?

Yes I have read the previous thread with interest and tried everything in it to the letter!! Hence my request for help!!!
I've discovered where the MAC address is on the iPAQ and entered that in my Netgear 102 that I have, but still no connection! Well that's slightly wrong, it does connect but for only 5 seconds! That is to say when I get it to Add New, after ticking Automatically connectetc and then tap OK it will find 'menai' my network name, and stay connected but after 5 seconds it changes to unavailable!! If I then untick Automatically etc tap OK it will find it again but do to unavailable 5 secs later!!!

Help!!!

Ian

I forgot to mention I have downloaded the latest drivers and software from HP as recommended in other posts.

I'd love to be able give you the answer but it seems from previous attempts that it is very difficult to to assist without knowing the networking equipment invloved. I guess Netgears user manual is of no use?

Sorry Charlie! I have a Netgear ME102 AP. The user manual isn't much help in this case!!

Any help you can give would be gratefully received! I'm just wondering if I have a faulty iPAQ!

I'm afraid I would only be repeating the "advice" I have offered in the other post about this. Have a go @ speaking to HPs support guys on it. I had no problems using my 4150 with my 3com access point and Linksys router and also Stevie has used his 4150 on the office network which uses a Linksys wireless router. Sorry I can't be of more help.
