Default WiFi - Random Connection Acknowledgement

Hi all,

I have a 4150 and love the thing. Use the University WLAN with my WiFi connection for free internet connection near enough anywhere on campus which is cool, but thats the only thing i use it for!

Question:

In many places i go to, my girlfriends house, my university flat and random areas around town i pick up strange wifi connections. I don`t mean actual providers but i think they are other peoples WiFi enabled electronics. Is there any way to probe deeper into what the connection actually is, can you do anything with it, can you communicate or signal the other device you are trying to contact it ???

Or is the only thing you can do, ""remove settings" for the connection.

Basically i often pick things up and wanna make contact with what ever is giving the signal......probably won`t come to much use, but a lot of the time i`m just curious as to what it is!

Regards
Chris

you can download a lot of different tools for locating wifi connections, alot of people dont setup the security settings correctly which leave them open for abuse.

http://www.wififofum.org/ have a look at this
