Default Wifi Activesync woes

Hi all.

After some considerable annoyance in trying to set up my hx4705 on my home network (4705 to Speedtouch wireless router) and eventually getting it all too work without really understanding why for days it would not and then it deciding that it would work as i have imagined it should, i am left with one last final wireless headache that i really would appreciate some help on.

I am trying to pair up my 4705 to my laptop (via the laptop's Speedtouch PCM/CIA wifi card).
The 4705 can see what i presume is the laptop (it see's and correctly lists my network and my neighbours network) but is listed as:
No SSID Unavailable.
Via the (Speedtouch) laptop's site survey the laptop does NOT in any way see the 4705?

I really would appreciate a dummy's guide to getting this right. My operating system is XP pro SP2 and alot of what i perceive to be XP's network tools are "disabled" as it would appear that the Speedtouch (PCM/CIA) software offers wifi site surveys which is confirmed by some Windows tasks stating that "Windows cannot offer this service as another piece of software is in control" or words to that effect. Certainly this seems the case and as previously stated the software can see and indeed log-on to the other two networks.
Am i missing the point?

Regards

Steven

Well there we go, SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!

I now "seem" to have one happy, all singing, all dancing, wireless family!

It does indeed appear that (in my instance at least) that Activesync is via the router.

All that said, Wifi is not (in my experience) in any way a plug-n-play type medium and seems to be quite temporamental in it's setting up between various ancillaries.

Thanks

Steven
