Default Mitac Mio & SD10 Problem

SD10 card has connected for seconds on a couple of occasions but disconnects and SSID shows 'unavailable'. Network and card is configured 'work' and neither router nor card has encryption set. Tried using pocketwin which says that card is switched off and tells me to switch it back on. Can't alter anything in WLAN Tool. Channel 6 is mentioned there while router qoutes channel 11! Router wireless set to 'mixed'. Can anyone tell me what I can do to get connected before I really do losethewill!
